Parish Spotlight: Holy Ghost

Holy Ghost is one of the most beautiful Parish’s in Knoxville, and the Parish we are proud to call home. It was built in the 20’s and has stunning architecture. Holy Ghost serves the Spanish community, the English community and the Latin Mass community. While currently the TLM is only offered once per month at the Retreat Center in Benton due to the recent restriction from the Bishop, they do still offer at Latin Norvus Ordo Ad Orientum with a very traditional choir and organ music.

Father Orr is the head Pastor, and Father Valentine our Parish Priest. They both are able to celebrate all three: English, Spanish and Latin Masses! Each Mass is full, and most of the homeschooling families in the Diocese do attend at Holy Ghost. One of the main Homeschooling co-op’s, St Benedict’s Catholic Schoolhouse, meets there during the week. There are so many families with children of all ages and always many parents with their toddlers in the back Vestibule during Mass.

Faith formation happens during one evening per week at St. Joseph’s School, and we are very proud to have a Fraturnus and Fidelis chapter offered - it is where adults work together with youth to mentor them - a really beautiful youth program! During the week, there are also three sections of Level 1 (ages 3-6) Catechesis of the Good Shepherd offered at Holy Ghost, and Level 2 (ages 6-9yo) will begin to be offered in the Fall of ‘26 as well! Father Orr also allows for homeschool parents to prep their children to receive their sacraments.

There are also many other beautiful outreaches based out of Holy Ghost and we just feel so blessed to be there. Father Orr and Father Valentine are such good and Holy Priests. Let me know if you are vising town and I’d love to introduce you to other families there!
